On the relief of bronchospasm and the induction of alveolar hyperventilation: a comparative study of nebulized bronchodilators by deep breathing and intermittent positive pressure.

چکیده
The introduction of aerosol therapy1”2 with bronchodilator drugs has added much to the management of obstructive pulmonary insufficiency.’ It is thought to be superior to oral and parenteral administration although comparative controlled data is lacking on this point.3 Since the combination of aerosol bronchodilators administered with intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB) , superior results have been obtained to conventional inhalation methods.”’7 Other comparative studies,8’9 however, have contested the superiority of aerosol-IPPB therapy.

HY POXIA AND I TS INFLUEN CES ON THE CARDIOVASCULAR AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEMS OF SPONTANEOUSLY BREATHING CATS
Effects of acute systemic hypoxia on the cardiovascular system (CYS) and respiration of spontaneously breathing cats were studied in two conditions. 1): Hypoxic air (6-8% 02 in N2) was given to the animal to induce systemic hypoxia for 20 minutes. Hyperventilation at this condition lowered arterial C02 tension (PaC02 hypocapnia). 2): In the second run, induction of hypocapnia was prevented ...

Background & Aims: Hyperventilation is the most common breathing pattern disorder. Several studies indicate that hyperventilation is common in asthmatic patients. There has been no study on prevalence of hyperventilation syndrome in Iran so far. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of hyperventilation syndrome in asthmatic patients. Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was ...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of Treatment Response of Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Preterm Infants: Early Nasal Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation versus Early Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure
Background Infant respiratory distress syndrome (IRDS) is one of the main causes of serious complications and death in preterm infants. Both Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (NCPAP) and Nasal Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation (NIPPV) are known as the most common treatment strategies for IRDS. The present study intended to compare NCPAP and NIPPV in the treatment of preterm inf...
متن کاملThe Effect of Inhalation Anesthesia with Hyperventilation and Total Intravenous Anesthesia on Intracranial Pressure Control in Pediatrics with Craniosynostosis Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Background: Intracranial pressure (ICP) control is one of the anesthesiologist challenges in craniosynostosis repair surgery, especially in multiple sutures involvement. The aim of this study was comparing the effect of two anesthesia methods including inhalation with hyperventilation and total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) on ICP control and surgeon satisfaction in pediatrics with craniosynost...
متن کاملRelief of carbon dioxide narcosis by simple intermittent positive pressure therapy.
Right heart failure has long been a difficult therapeutic problem. Even more of an enigma has been the small percentage of these con pulmonale patients whose failure is complicated by the progressive accumulation of carbon dioxide in their system, with eventual narcosis of the central respiratory center. Carbon dioxide narcosis has been the subject of progressively effective study and treatment...
